National and Kapodistrian University of Athens study about Medicane Ianos
Recent study of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens shows that the Wind Farm in Xerakias has zero effect on the floods of Kefalonia
Wind Farmes are not accountable for the floods in Kefalonia.

The most recent publication of the study conducted by the Faculty of Geology and Geoenvironment of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in respect of the effects of Cyclone Ianos in Kefalonia and the investigation of the causes that lead to this disaster, shows the following:
- The recently constructed wind farm, in Xerakias, which was almost complete prior the advent of Ianos, had zero contribution to the flood occurred on the island.
- The construction and operation of Wind farms in the wider area has not contributed in any phase to the occurrence of flood phenomena in September 2020.
- The sediments that flooded the areas of Ag. Efimia, Fiskardo, and Assos are not correlated to the aggregates used in wind farms.
- The factors that contributed to the disaster are:
- The extreme and intense hydrometeorological phenomena.
- The hydrographic network and the specific morphology of the region.
- The neotectonics regime
- Interventions along the riverbeds, the estuaries of the rivers, the overgrazing and the deforestation.
